About the Appomattox County Militia

"We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution."

The Appomattox County Militia was founded in 2020 by a group of Constitution supporting patriots that wanted to form a constitutionally protected militia group for the purposes of serving and protecting our community. Organization of the idea of a militia into a working organization began in 2021 with the exploration and creation of bylaws and an administrative governing body. In July of 2021 the first Board of Directors was elected by the militia membership and set to work in registering the militia as a non-profit entity, which was accomplished in August of 2021, and finalizing the bylaws and policies and procedures of the militia.

The Appomattox County militia is a multipart organization, comprised of our administrative governing body, our active duty and reserve militia members, our mission support members, and finally our recruits and prospects. Together, these different parts of the militia come together to provide community support and disaster relief aid, community training and education efforts, law enforcement support, and to be the first line of defense for our community in the event of attack whether foreign, or domestic.

With a focus on community and law enforcement support, the Appomattox County Militia has already hosted or participated in several events, including our first community food drive in September of 2020, a fundraiser to benefit the Appomattox County Sheriff’s office with new medical kits in 2020, providing event security for the Appomattox Oyster & Seafood Festival, and the Appomattox Railroad Festival in 2021, hosting a fundraiser in 2021 to benefit the Appomattox County Sherriff’s office with new thermal imaging equipment, and a food, clothing and toy drive in November 2021 to benefit our less fortunate community members.
