Your community needs you! The Appomattox County Militia is comprised of men and women of the Appomattox and Central Virginia area that share a belief in and support of the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Teachers, office professionals, skilled workers, nurses, homemakers, retired persons, college students and more, banded together with the common mission to serve and protect our community. Regardless of your profession or hobby, there is a place for you in the Appomattox County Militia.
The process of joining the Appomattox County Militia is a four step process, designed to give you time to learn about the Militia, what we do and how you will become a part of our mission.
Fill out the form below to register your interest in joining the Appomattox County Militia. You will be added to our prospects list and included on our newsletter distribution list. Someone from our recruitment division will reach out to you using the information you provide to answer any questions you might have.
The Militia meets monthly, and our meetings are open to the public. You will be notified of our next membership meeting and are encouraged to attend. You will learn what is involved in our training, have an opportunity to meet with other members, ask questions and learn more about the Militia, our different squads and levels of involvement, and about our mission.
After having your questions answered and attending a few meetings, it is time to decide if you want to join the Militia. If you decide that it isn’t for you, no worries, we are happy to have the opportunity to meet you. If you decide you want to join, you will be asked to sign a code of conduct, and provide a copy of your concealed weapons permit, or submit to a background check.
Once everything has checked out and you’re vetting process is complete you will be asked to take an oath of membership and to uphold and defend the people and the Constitution of Virginia and the United States of America. Congratulations! You have joined the ranks of the Appomattox County Militia as a recruit. Your path to Support, Reserve, or Active Duty now begins.
